10 Bollywood celebrity weddings and what they wore

When we hear Bollywood celebrity wedding, all we can think of is VicKat’s (Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif) wedding that happened this week. The couple got married in the Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan in a lavish five day ceremony. The world got to witness their love too when they both shared their wedding pictures on Instagram and now we can’t stop drooling over those magical moments. Now we are in the mood to look back at all the celebrity weddings that happened over the past years and what each of them wore at their gorgeous weddings.

1. Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal

Katrina Kaif got married to the love of her life and actor Vicky Kaushal in a lavish ceremony on the 9th of December, 2021. Katrina Kaif wore a classic Sabyasachi red bridal lehenga and paired it bespoke bridal jewellery from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery. The groom Vicky Kaushal wore an ivory silk sherwani and paired it with a statement necklace also from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery. Although we are yet to get all the details from the wedding, we can be sure that their wedding was nothing short of a fairytale from looking at these pictures they shared on their Instagram accounts.

2. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli

On 11th December 2017, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli got married at a dreamy location near Tuscany, Italy and set the benchmark for most high-profile Bollywood celebrity weddings. Anushka Sharma ditched the traditional red bridal lehenga and opted for a pale pink Sabyasachi lehenga with Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colors as described by the designer. She matched it with bridal jewellery handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery Collection. Virat chose to wear an ivory raw silk sherwani, hand embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern & signature house buttons.

3. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas

In a Bollywood-meets-Hollywood kind of love story, the Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra married the National Jiju Nick Jonas in a three day long ceremony with both Christian and Hindu marriage traditions at a palace in Jodhpur. For the Christian wedding, they were both decked in Ralph Lauren and for their Hindu traditional wedding, they wore custom made ensembles from Sabyasachi. Priyanka picked a crimson Kanauj Rose lehenga with intricate French embroidery and fine sequin work on it. The custom-made couture took 3720 man-hours and 110 embroiderers from Kolkata to create. She paired the outfit with traditional gold jewellery from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry. For the groom, Murshidabad silk was yarn-dyed and hand-spun to create a soft and luxurious quilted sherwani. He paired it with jewellery from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry.

4. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh

In November 2018, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot in the most beautiful picturesque Lake Como, Italy. The couple paid homage to their respective familial roots and had both Sindhi and Konkani wedding ceremonies. Deepika being the classic south indian bride chose to wear an elegant Kanjivaram red and gold saree from House of Angadi, a Bangalore-based luxury silk saree brand while Ranveer Singh wore a cream silk sherwani. For the Sindhi Wedding, the couple color coordinated in red and gold dressed head-to-toe in Sabyasachi. Deepika wore a gorgeous red Sabyasachi Lehenga and paired it with a maang tikka, kalire, a statement nose ring among other things. The groom wore a red sherwani also designed by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and accessorized it with multi-layered ruby and a jadau necklace.

5. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja

In May 2018, Sonam Kapoor wed her longtime boyfriend Anand Ahuja in a traditional Sikh wedding in Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by a lot of Bollywood A-listers and was held in the bride’s maternal aunt’s house in Bandra, Mumbai. She wore a traditional red lehenga from the designer Anuradha Vakil with lotus patterns and embellished borders. She paired it with traditional jewelry- a sarpech on her head, a gold choker, a raani haar, kaleera and red choora. The groom was seen in a golden sherwani by Raghavendra Rathore with a gold and white saafa with a bejeweled sarpech from Amrapali. He accessorized it with pearl and a multi-layered ruby necklace.

6. Mira Rajput Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor

In July 2015, the Bollywood heart throb Shahid Kapoor married Delhi-based Mira Rajput in an intimate wedding in Gurgaon. Today, they have two children together, a son named Zain and a daughter named Misha Kapoor. It was a gurudwara style wedding and Mira wore a suit for their Anand Karaj ceremony. Once the official wedding ceremony was over, there was a post-wedding party held where Mira wore an Anamika Khanna baby pink lehenga with flowers in her hair and soft dewy makeup and Shahid was decked in a gorgeous indo-western suit by the ace designer and Shahid’s close friend Kunal Rawal.

7. Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi

Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi wed in an intimate Sikh wedding ceremony called the Anand Karaj with only a few friends and family in attendance. The bride wore an Anita Dongre blush pink lehenga and kept the jewelry and makeup to the minimal. The groom opted for a white sherwani and wore a pink turban to coordinate with the bride. We can say we are mesmerized by how good the couple looked on their wedding day given that they had just a few days to prepare for it.

8. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar

Despite all the craze behind bit fat Bollywood celebrity weddings, Yami Gautam decided to get married to filmmaker Aditya Dhar and opted for a simple wedding amid the hills of Himachal Pradesh. The wedding was quite intimate with only immediate family in attendance. The actress who tied the knot in June 2021 amid coronavirus pandemic said they they would have still opted for an intimate low-key wedding even if there were no restrictions due to the pandemic. For the wedding, the actress wore her mother’s saree and a dupatta given by her grandmother among other things. Her hair and makeup was done by herself with help from her sister Surilee Gautam. Yami also added that by keeping a simple and close wedding, they minimized food wastage, flower decorations and many other things. Traditional Pahadi, Kashmiri and Punjabi folk songs were played during the wedding. In the era of glamorous big fat Bollywood weddings, Yami Gautam’s wedding was like a breath of fresh air and was praised by many for its simplicity.

9. Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal

Childhood sweethearts Varun Dhawan and fashion designer Natasha Dalal tied the knot in an intimate wedding amid the pandemic in Alibaug which was attended by close family and friends. Natasha Dalal being a designer herself wore a pale gold bridal lehenga from her label and accessorized it with diamond and emerald jewelry. The churas and kaleeras were designed by Mrinalini Chandra. The ever-so-charming groom, Varun Dhawan looked like a prince in a white sherwani adorned with intricate gold and silver zardosi hand-embroidery, layered with a celeste blue drape. Varun paired it with custom encrusted embroidery shoes to complete the look. This particular picture from their wedding looks nothing short of a fairytale where both are sitting in the mandap while their loved ones shower them with rose petals.

10. Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa Paul

On November 2021, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa tied the knot in a beautiful Hindu wedding followed by a white wedding. Patralekhaa was a classic Sabyasachi bride who wore a red tulle embroidered buti sari paired with an embroidered veil, inscribed with a Bengali verse written by the designer Sabyasachi for the couple to mark their special day. Patralekhaa was accessorized in Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery in 22k gold and uncut diamonds, pearls and emeralds. The groom wore an embroidered raw silk ivory jacket with gold plated Bengal tiger buttons paired with a Bangalore silk kurta and churidar. He completed his look with handcrafted Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery in strands of cultured Japanese pearls. For the white wedding, Patralekhaa’s white gown was designed by JADE by Monica and Karishma.
